Diving into music
This page is oriented to explore and learn more about music, artists, songs, and the message behind it. Today we are going to dive into the world of “POP”.
Normally, when you think about the king and queen of POP you would assume it's either Michael Jackson or Madonna but actually, I will be telling you about the artists that I personally find very intriguing and amusing. And for me, this pop artist is Dua Lipa.
On 21 August 2015, she debuted and entered the industry of music with the song called ‘New Love’. That song was the starting point in her career and allowed her to follow her passion for being a musician. Initially, it was her second song ‘Be The One’ that gained more attention from the listeners and it was the same for me. ‘Be The One’ was not only popular but it helped her reach the summit in many charts and it peaked to number 9 in her native land the UK, becoming her first solo top ten single in 2017. She has been an active singer and songwriter in this industry for more than five years.
The London-born artist is the eldest child of a Kosova Albanian family. At the age of eleven, she returned to Kosova with her family when independence was declared in Kosova. But after a while when she started to struggle due to lack of opportunity for her future aspiration in Kosova, she convinced her parents to let her move back to London at the age of 15.
Albums
So far she has two studio albums, the self-titled album, and Future Nostalgia. She also has two reissued albums for each of the albums listed above. As well as, a remixed album called Club Future Nostalgia consisting of many collaborations with DJs, producers and includes appearances of many artists. Her Future Nostalgia album portrays a retro feel, a blend of a futuristic sound with a hint of familiarity.
The reissued album called Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition has to be my utmost-loved one as it contains my favorite song of hers but also includes her collaborations with versatile artists from all over the world who I adore.
Songs
Her song ‘Thinking ‘Bout You’ was my favorite song which was released in her self-titled album, however, after the release of her Future Nostalgia album, it evidently changed to Love again. The meaning of the song also swayed me into liking it more. In one of the episodes of a Netflix music documentary called SONG EXPLODER, (where they guest a songwriter or an artist and talk about the meaning behind a song in-depth) they invited Dua and she talked about her song ‘love again’. The song was written after a breakup of a long-term relationship in which she felt she was being lied to and thought about how she would never find love again.
She told apple music, “It was a song for me, to give myself a little cuddle, and was about being hopeful that I would fall in love again…”
The lyrics may be very sentimental but the synths, orchestral sounds, acoustic guitar, and disco beats add a flavor of edginess. Even though the song's initial approach is for love but I believe it could be incorporated into any circumstance and situation of the listener. That's normally how I approach a song. Every song may have a primal meaning behind it but converting it into a situation of yours makes the listening experience even more wholesome.

Her choice in collaboration is also very fascinating as she collabs with artists of various backgrounds and cultures and tries to form a strong bond with them.

Her journey as an artist and songwriter is still growing and expanding, her unique and husky timbre gives a listener a whole different experience and adds an unusual sound to the music which actually elevates to perfection. Adding extraordinary melody and her trying a new stylistic tone brings appeal and captivates the audience. Her heartfelt lyrics relate and resonate personally with me as an admirer of her. I can say with total certainty that I will be anticipating new Sound and music from her in the coming time ahead.
