Cigarettes After Sex is complete serendipity
It’s like a utopia, that you never knew existed. Where you dwell into mellow dreams.
Fantasies of romance, feelings of despair, the black and white aesthetic is a complete package of a casual Sunday evening. The slow gloomy vibes with ethereal musical style brings a new sound to the industry.
Greg Gonzalez, being the founder of a four-member American Pop group, is the lead vocalist. His voice was described as “androgynous” as well as “sweet and sentimental” by Vice for Noisey. The other members are Randall Miller the bassist, Jacob Tomsky the drummer, and Josh Marcus the keyboardist. Although the band was
“basically an accident; kind of an experiment”,
they debuted in 2012, with the song “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” which was on their debut extended play (EP). Even though they market as an ambient pop band, they cluster of many genres like alternative, indie rock, shoegaze, and slowcore.
Albums
The band normally releases singles before putting out albums. They have a total of two studio albums with an extended play. The first studio album Cigarettes After Sex which is my favorite came out in 2017, with 10 songs. The second studio album, Cry consisting of 9 songs was released in late 2019.

Sweet
Although I continuously change my favorite song, I do seem to find myself reaching for this track in particular. I don't know what does it for me, but the personalized sensuality and affectionate lyricisms are just so SWEET. It points to each little attribute of a person and how you admire it and would straight away give yourself up for them.
Apocalypse
He paints a picture, tells a story, completes a puzzle, discusses issues and emotions. This song deals with the tragic experience of a breakup. But how the person can't give love up and has formed an attachment with it. The new lover of this person was also guarding themselves as they knew this person would wreck them and leave them broken but love is such an undeniable force that wraps you up and doesn't involve an ounce of rationalism is so enchanting.

“want my music to take people to places they had never been and make them experience like they experienced firsthand.”
This is what this song compliments and does for me, it soothes me while alerts the senses I had kept shut.
His songs are just peaceful and emotional, it doesn't just calm you, it also wants you to sway and do a slow dance with someone you admire or your partner or a lover. He continues to indulge us with his mellifluous sounds and voice, as his latest single You’re All I want was released last year.
